Parameters:

  1. The TerraNova3 Standardized Test was administered to GVCS students in grades 2-8.

  2. Due to COVID19, no complete standardized testing had been implemented for the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school years.

  3. GVCS does not “teach to the test”, and our curriculum cycle does not align perfectly with the TN3 curriculum assessment standards.

  4. All grade levels, sans Grade 3, utilized the differentiated TN3 format specifically for ACSI accredited institutions.

    • As this is the last year that TN3 will be available, Grade 3 TN3 (ACSI) were not available, so Grade 3 implemented the general TN3 instrument.

Results:

  1. Typical uptrend in results occurred for the 2021-2022 TN3 cycle.

    • Initial implementation in grades 2 & 3 showed typically lower outcomes.

      • Students were new to the format and process.

      • Grade 3 had never taken the assessment, due to COVID19 complications.

      • The Range of Total Battery Score was a typical, positive linear outcome,: 33rd NP (Grade 2) - 69th NP (Grade 8)

  2. Areas of strength included:

    • Math - Specifically Computation, though all grade levels were above the 50th NP, and middle school students were 65th - 76th NP

    • Reading - Specifically Vocabulary strengthening the Reading Composite with a Range of 48th NP (Grade 3) - 65th NP (Grade 7).

  3. Areas of Challenge included:

    • Language - Specifically Mechanics (Grammar), though the composite was at the 51st NP due to General Language NP elevating the overall.
